RENT THE MILL HILL PLAYHOUSE

Playhouse Use and Equipment Rental

The Mill Hill Playhouse is owned by the City of Trenton. Therefore, use of the space is free to members of the Trenton Community. However, the equipment in the Playhouse is owned by Passage Theatre, and does require upkeep and maintenance. Therefore, there is a small rental fee for using our equipment and staff time. We also, by law, require a certificate of insurance. If you are interested in using the Playhouse, please fill out the following Google Form so that we can better gauge what you need for your event and whether or not the space is available during the time you request.

 

Rental rates, definitions, and insurance information are as follows:

Definitions:

  • For-Profit: You are a retail or commercial business that must pay tax on its income.

  • Non-Profit: You qualify as a Non-profit organization if you are exempt from federal income taxes under subsection 501 (c) of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax code. A nonprofit organization is an organization that engages in activities for both public and private interest without pursuing the goal of commercial or monetary profit.

  • Community: You are considered a Community Organization If your organization is based in the City of Trenton and has a Trenton mailing address.

  • High-Tech Main Theatre Rental: This includes the theatre space, the lobby, and the restrooms. Dressing rooms can be added on separately.  Sound, lighting, or projection equipment is needed for your rental. You need assistance from Passage personnel during or before your event. If your event requires someone to “run” lights or sound, then your event qualifies for this category.

  • Low-Tech Main Theatre Rental: This includes the theatre space, the lobby, and the restrooms. Dressing rooms can be added on separately. No sound, lighting, or projection equipment is needed for your rental, and no assistance from Passage personnel is required during your event. You only need use of the space.

  • Lobby Area Rental: This includes the lobby and the restrooms. Dressing rooms can be added on separately. You do not need use of the main theatre area, and your event only needs the lobby space. You do not need any sound, lighting, or projection equipment, and no Passage staff needs to be available before or during your event. Lobby rentals are usually for small events where 10 or less people will be in attendance. 

Certificate of Insurance:

You and/or your organization will provide Passage with a Certificate of Insurance evidencing $2 million general liability and property damage insurance and naming Passage Theatre Company and the City of Trenton as additional insured. Coverage must include theft and damage of property. The Certificate of Insurance must be provided to Passage no later than 3 days prior to the event.

Once the application is filled out, someone will reply to the email address provided within one week. Please note that the space is already currently booked from September 27th, 2021 - May 25th, 2022.
