Provocative in its Depth & Mystery |
Written by Russell DavisDirected by Will Pomerantz May 8 - June 1, 2008
Passage Theatre concludes its spring Mainstage offerings with renowned playwright Russell Davis’s Cecilia’s Last Tea Party, a fantastical, funny, and darkly mysterious play incorporating puppets. Scott Hitz, the film and stage puppeteer, serves as puppet consultant. Director Will Pomerantz has collaborated frequently with Mr. Davis and is known for his work in New York and across the country. Cecilia’s Last Tea Party tells the story of Cecilia, a young girl who, amidst her mother’s disappearance and the commotion of an island upheaval, resists growing up by retreating into her fantasy world with the pelican Dodo and Dada, a rare Bengal tiger. However, Cecilia’s world is fractured by the intrusion of her Aunt Tambora and Colonel Billy Krakatoa. She escapes her troubling circumstances through extraordinary nocturnal adventures. This is a piece written for an adult audience but is perfectly appropriate and enjoyable for ten years & older. |

2007-2008 State Street Project performances The State Street Project is an educational outreach effort aimed at Trenton's young people, ages 8 to 22. Founded in 1995, the State Street Project is based on a model developed by New York's 52nd Street Project, and matches Trenton young people with professional artist-mentors in playwriting, performance and technical theatre classes. In 2005, the project's focus expanded to include the Anti-Violence Arts Initiative, which creates arts programs and performances that explore the causes and potential solutions to violence in the Trenton community, whether it takes place in the schools, in the home or in the streets. |
